Purpose and Rationale

Our group chose the topic “What methods are used to help parents effectively reinforce the curriculum”. The main focus is to find out what methods are used to help parents understand the curriculum based on the centre’s efforts in communicating the curriculum content to them so that they can effectively and personally reinforce it with their children.

Through our personal experiences from our internships, we aired a few examples and instances. Based on Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological Systems Theory, collaboration and interaction that occurs within the microsystem  influences the children’s immediate setting and lives (Couchenour & Chrisman, 2014). This complements our belief on education occurs as a continuous process between school and home. Therefore, as parents play a huge role in reinforcing methods and strategies learnt in school, children are provided with the opportunity to develop interests under the care from parents and teachers.

Therefore, with mutual trust and understanding, the several stakeholders (children, parents and teachers) are able to learn and grow holistically as the right attitude is set through interactions between parents and teachers that will influence effective reinforcement of the curriculum in the process.
