Needs Assessment

As a team, we have conducted an interview with the acting Principal to allow us to find out more about how the center's methods used to help parents to reinforce curriculum at home. After breaking down the interview, we have divided our results into three needs: Time, Parents and Access

Time

  • Low attendance rate during physical workshops due to the parents’ busy work schedule.

  •  Parents and teachers tried to compromise with each other by rescheduling another day but did not work out.

Hence, one of the needs is to address the low-attendance rate of face-to-face events.

Parents

  • Parents are more focused on their child’s performance and progress instead of the curriculum.

  •  Tea sessions: parents would seek information on what they want to know instead

  • Limits what educators can share about the curriculum.

  • Teachers tend to answer more personal and direct questions

Access

  • Challenge to focus on various domains such as social-emotional and academic

  • Parents not engaged in first-hand experiences of lesson content

  • Parents merely assist and facilitate learning.

Based on the needs identified, we have chosen Time as our Primary topic to create our survey
