Organisational Skills
Upon completion of this project, I felt that the delegation of workload was evenly divided among my groupmates. Hence, each of us had sufficient work to do. For example, I had to come up with the idea of the E-materials and the rest were in charge of data collection and presenting the concepts. I believe that we divided these tasks based on our competencies which made us more efficient in meeting our personal deadlines. As such, we were able to work well as a team through proper collaboration and communication.
Communication Skills
Moving on to the way we work together in the group, we were not afraid to critique each other’s ideas and suggestions as we felt that the brainstorming process accounted for the end product of a agreeable recommendation of the E-concept. Moreover, without effective and transparent communication among us, we were not able to improve on each other’s feedback and get work done properly. Therefore, with the use of our personal skill-sets to tackle the issue together, I felt that we communicate our ideas effectively to the respective stakeholders for them to critic objectively. With this practice among ourselves, we were able to propose our idea with an open-minded perspective on receiving criticism and feedback positively and view it as constructive suggestions to tweak our existing ideas. In addition, the communication skills that I possess allowed me to enquire appropriate and substantial information from the principal during the interview and feedback session.

Problem-solving Skills
From this project, it provided me with ample opportunities to exhibit my analytical and practical skills in assessing information and narrowing it down to tackle the issue from the root cause. Thus, I believe that these skills allowed us as a team to view our topic from various perspectives and analyse which is the most effective route to take before acting on our recommendation. Moreover, as we faced several challenges, our effective communication allowed us to look into areas which needed further discussion. From which, our respective responsibilities allowed us to face the challenges together but with different tasks. For example, when we realised that our concept lacked the attraction, I thought of several alternatives to create awareness while my other members discussed improvements to the project proposal which will appeal to the audience and the centre. This showcased that even though we were on the same page on the project, we had differing tasks to carry out which spurred efficiency.

As we ventured into this topic with further information provided through the interview with the centre principal, we realised that the several methods enforced in the centre was insufficient to provide parents with a wholesome and holistic understanding of the curriculum. As such, through further data analysis from surveys and literature reviews, I understood that the focus should be on improving the existing methods to make it more appealing for parents to read and comprehend. From which, the interview provided an insight into what has been implemented and what needs to be enhanced to interest parents. Thus, I personally discovered the importance of conducting in-depth research into any topic. This would allow me to narrow down to the most important and significant factor that impacts the topic.
With the E-concept (accessing information on an alternative platform for convenience for both parents and teachers) idea in mind, the feedback by the principal on the recommendation initiated both positive and negative comments which emphasised the feasibility of our concept. However, the major consideration was to protect the centre’s information and concepts from external sharing. The comments received made me realised the confidentiality issue of safeguarding the school’s information apart from parent, teacher and child confidentiality. Therefore, it made me understand the several factors to consider before implementing the ideal concept. For example, from the planning phase to the execution phase, the first step in such a project is to enquire information from the respective stakeholders who are involved in the planning about the existing issues and factors before brainstorming ideas to tackle the issue and then evaluate the effectiveness of the concept before proposing the idea and implementing it.
The area of focus on the issue of reinforcing the centre’s curriculum with parents resonated with my group as we faced similar challenges in assisting parents with understanding what our individual centre’s curriculum entails (during our internship). Thus, as I conducted further research into this prevalent issue, I realised that parental involvement and parent-teacher communication and collaboration are important when it comes to the sharing of information between parent and teacher.
